  • 3pm to 6pm: Sight-Reading Session (Orchestra Repertoire)

23rd November @ Pimlico Academy

  • 1pm to 3pm: Creative Violin Ensemble
    Intermediate/Advanced Violin Ensemble will rehearse during Course D/E session from 2pm
  • 2.15pm to 3.30pm: Children's Ensemble
    with Kai Jenkins - Christmas Boogie, Abracadabra, Tango Preparation for Orchestra
  • 3.30pm to 6pm: Orchestra Rehearsal

30th November @ Millbank Academy

  • 1.45pm to 3.15pm: Creative Violin Ensemble

Please note that guests are not permitted in the auditorium before doors open at 2.10pm. Performers are welcome to stay in the hall, but please move all belongings to the designated 'backstage' area. Thank you!

Concert Tickets

Participating performers do not need concert tickets.

All participating performers have 1 complimentary guest ticket. Additional tickets are £5 in advance, or £10 on the door.

Additional tickets can be booked using the form on the Concert page.

Concert Day Logistics

Music Stands - music stands are NOT required as they will be provided by the venue.

Dress Code - Black, plus a splash of colour (Red/Purple/Gold/Yellow!)

Please note that the Christmas Show will be webcast and recorded. A photographer will also be present to record the event!

On the day...

TUNING VIOLINS - please look for Kai or Marisol who will help you with your instrument

LOGISTICS - please ask for our Event Manager, Maria Thomas, who will be able to answer any questions.

MUSIC - for any music-related questions, find Simon, Matthew or Thomas!

This Christmas, the Violin Orchestra will be revisiting some favourite choices from our 'back catalogue' ... Here's the programme in full!

  • Adagio by Remo Giazotto, attributed to Tomaso Albinoni  (6’)
  • Por una Cabeza (Tango) by Carlos Gardel  (3')

How to Practice with the music player

  • Use the notation player to play the music and follow along with the score.
  • Change the recording to 'synthetic' to hear all the parts (the recording is different, and only includes parts A/B.
  • Switch the violin keyboard simulator to a different part, by clicking the letter in the bottom left corner. Or switch it off in the 'settings'.
  • Slow down the music using the metronome function.
  • Loop specific sections of the music (slowly!) using the repeat function.
  • Hide other parts if they are getting in the way (select the parts you want in the 'settings' menu).
